The Reinforced Cross Stitch is a regular cross stitch, except it has
an added diagonal stitch. This gives it a "3-D" effect. It is best worked on the larger meshed canvas. Three diagrams have been used to demonstrate this stitch.
Reinforced Cross Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move up and to the right over one canvas intersection, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up and to the left over one canvas intersection, bring the needle down at D. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Reinforced Cross Stitch (Diagram 2):
Beginning where we left off at D, bring the needle up at A (illustrated here in dark blue), move up and to the right over one canvas intersection, bring the needle down at B. Note: As you can see from the diagram, this second A/B stitch is worked UNDER the previous C/D stitch. Now, continue on to Diagram 3...
Reinforced Cross Stitch (Diagram 3):
This diagram shows a completed area of reinforced cross stitches.
