The Diaper Pattern Stitch is a very old stitch. This stitch should always
be worked diagonally. The rows should alternate between constrasting colors. This will create a unique effect. Four diagrams have been used to demonstrate this stitch.
Diaper Pattern Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at D. Bring the needle up at E, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at F. Bring the needle up at G, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at H. Bring the needle up at I, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at J. Bring the needle up at K, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at L. Bring the needle up at M, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at N. Bring the needle up at O, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at P. Bring the needle up at Q, move up over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at R. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Diaper Pattern Stitch (Diagram 2):
Beginning where we left off at R, we now begin the second row of stitches in a different color. Bring the needle up at S, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at A. Bring the needle up at T, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at C. Bring the needle up at U, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at E. Bring the needle up at V, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at G. Bring the needle up at W, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at I. Bring the needle up at X, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at K. Bring the needle up at Y, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at M. Bring the needle up at Z, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at O. Bring the needle up at AA, move up and over four canvas threads, bring the needle down at Q. Now, continue on to Diagram 3...
