Bring the needle up at A, move up over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up over three canvas threads and to the left over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B (again). Bring the needle up at D, move up over three canvas threads and to the left over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at E, move up over three canvas threads and to the left over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at F, move up over two canvas threads and to the left over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at G, move up over one canvas thread and to the left over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at H, move to the left over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. This completes the first Ray Stitch. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...

Expanded Ray Stitch (Diagram 1):
Bring the needle up at A, move to the right over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up over one canvas thread and to the right over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at D, move up over two canvas threads and to the right over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at E, move up over three canvas threads and to the right over three canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at F, move up over three canvas threads and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at G, move up over three canvas threads and to the right over one canvas thread, bring the needle down at B. Expanded Ray Stitch (Diagram 2):

pass through the same canvas hole multiple times without distorting the canvas. When complete, the Ray Stitch creates a "Square" appearance. We have also demonstrated the Expanded Ray Stitch. When complete, the Expanded Ray stitch creates a "rectangle" appearance. For a more interesting look, try alternating colors for each Ray Stitch. Note: this stitch is similar to the Fan Stitch. The difference is in the ways in which the rows are worked. Three diagrams have been used to demonstrate the ray stitch and two diagrams have been used to demonstrate the expanded ray stitch.
