Bring the needle up at A, move down three canvas threads and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at B. Bring the needle up at C, move up three canvas threads and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at D. This completes the first Van Dyke Cross Stitch. Now, continue on to Diagram 2...
Van Dyke Stitch (Diagram 2):
Beginning where we left off at D, bring the needle up at E, move down three canvas threads and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at F. Bring the needle up at G, move up three canvas threads and to the right over two canvas threads, bring the needle down at H. This completes the second Van Dyke Cross Stitch. Continue working in this manner until the end of the row and then move on to Diagram 3...
